What is a halo engagement ring?
A halo ring surrounds the centre diamond with a ring of smaller diamonds. The halo adds sparkle and spreads the light around the centre stone, so it looks noticeably larger than it would on its own. It is a good way to get a bigger look for your budget.
Halo with a plain or diamond band?
A plain band keeps the attention on the halo and centre stone, and makes the ring easy to resize. A diamond-set band carries the sparkle down the band for the most dazzling look of all.
Which diamond shape?
The halo follows the outline of the centre stone, so every shape works: round, princess, oval, emerald, cushion, Asscher, marquise, pear, heart and radiant. A round halo is the classic; a cushion halo has a vintage feel; an oval or pear halo looks larger still and lengthens the finger. Use the shape filter at the top of the page to see each one.
Platinum or gold?
The many small diamonds in a halo are held by tiny beads of metal, so a hard-wearing metal matters. Platinum holds them best for the long term; 18ct white, yellow and rose gold cost a little less. Shop 18ct yellow gold halo rings.
