The pear shape diamond
The pear is a brilliant cut shaped like a teardrop. It mixes the sparkle of a round with the length of a marquise, so it looks larger than its weight and lengthens the finger. Most people wear it with the point towards the fingertip. The shoulder diamonds lead the eye straight to the pear centre stone.
Why diamond-set shoulders?
Diamond-set shoulders add a row of small diamonds part way down the band on each side of the centre stone. They add sparkle and lead the eye to the centre diamond, while the plain lower band keeps the ring comfortable and easy to resize.
Why platinum?
We use 950 platinum, hallmarked in the UK. It is about 95% pure, so it is naturally white all the way through and never needs re-plating. It is heavier than gold and very hard-wearing: rather than wearing away, the metal moves over time and takes on a soft satin look, which a quick polish brings back to a high shine. It is also the best choice if you have sensitive skin.
Choosing your pear diamond
A ratio between 1.45 and 1.75 gives the classic teardrop. Look for even, rounded shoulders and a bow tie that is faint rather than dark. The point is protected by a claw on all our pear settings.

Each ring is made for you in our Cotswolds workshop in 3 to 4 weeks, in 100% recycled metal, and independently hallmarked. We have made fine jewellery since 1969. UK delivery is free, every order comes with a prepaid returns pack, and returns are free within 30 days.

Yes. The diamonds sit on the shoulders and the lower band is plain, so it can usually be resized like a solitaire. Order a free ring sizer to get it right first time.
All precious metals mark with wear. Platinum moves rather than wearing away, so it keeps its weight and holds the diamond securely. Over time it takes on a soft satin finish, and we can polish it back to a bright shine whenever you like.
