What is a shoulder set ring?
Shoulder set rings have diamonds set in the shoulders, the part of the band that rises to meet the centre stone. They add sparkle where it is seen most while the lower band stays plain, which is comfortable, sits neatly beside a wedding ring and keeps resizing simple.
Why platinum?
Platinum is naturally white, so it never needs re-plating, and it is dense and hard-wearing. When it is knocked, the metal moves rather than wearing away, which keeps the small claws and beads holding each diamond secure for longer. With wear it takes on a soft satin finish, and a polish brings back the shine.
Choosing your diamond shape
A round brilliant gives the most sparkle. Oval and marquise look larger for their weight and lengthen the finger. Princess and radiant are crisp and modern, while emerald, Asscher and cushion cuts bring a vintage, Art Deco feel. Diamond shoulders suit every shape.
