18ct yellow gold pear shape bezel-set engagement rings, handmade to order by our family workshop in the Cotswolds and set with a diamond you choose yourself. The pear shape is a teardrop diamond, rounded at one end and pointed at the other, with plenty of sparkle. A bezel setting holds the diamond in a smooth rim of metal instead of claws, for a sleek, secure ring.
The pear shape diamond
The pear is a brilliant cut shaped like a teardrop. It mixes the sparkle of a round with the length of a marquise, so it looks larger than its weight and lengthens the finger. Most people wear it with the point towards the fingertip. The bezel traces the outline of the pear diamond in a clean line of metal.
Why a bezel setting?
A bezel wraps a smooth rim of metal right round the diamond instead of holding it with claws. It protects the edge of the stone, sits low on the finger and has nothing to catch on clothes or hair, so it suits an active life and everyday wear.
Why 18ct yellow gold?
18ct yellow gold is 75% pure gold, with the deep, warm colour people picture when they think of a gold ring. It is not plated, so the colour never fades. Some of our yellow gold designs hold the diamond in a white platinum head, so the stone looks as white as possible while the band stays golden. Yellow gold also flatters a slightly warmer diamond, so a stone in the H to J colour range can look just as good as a pricier, whiter one. For a lower price, see our 9ct yellow gold engagement rings.
Choosing your pear diamond
A ratio between 1.45 and 1.75 gives the classic teardrop. Look for even, rounded shoulders and a bow tie that is faint rather than dark. The point is protected by a claw on all our pear settings.
Choose your own diamond
Every ring is set with a centre diamond you choose yourself, natural or lab-grown, from our live stock. Each stone has its grading report, and the ring page shows the finished price before you buy.

Frequently Asked Questions
Traditionally the point faces the fingertip, which makes the finger look longer. Some people prefer it the other way; just tell us when you order.
The metal rim covers the very edge of the stone, so it can look a touch smaller than in claws. In return the diamond is fully protected, and the clean frame gives a crisp, modern outline.
Yellow gold reflects a little warmth into the diamond, so a near-colourless stone in the H to J range looks just as good as a whiter, more expensive one. If you want an icy white stone, choose a design with a platinum head.
