The heart is a brilliant cut with a cleft at the top and a point at the bottom. It takes real skill to cut well, and a well-cut heart has a clear outline, even lobes and plenty of sparkle. The bezel traces the outline of the heart diamond in a clean line of metal.
Why a bezel setting?
A bezel wraps a smooth rim of metal right round the diamond instead of holding it with claws. It protects the edge of the stone, sits low on the finger and has nothing to catch on clothes or hair, so it suits an active life and everyday wear.
Why 18ct yellow gold?
18ct yellow gold is 75% pure gold, with the deep, warm colour people picture when they think of a gold ring. It is not plated, so the colour never fades. Some of our yellow gold designs hold the diamond in a white platinum head, so the stone looks as white as possible while the band stays golden. Choose a diamond of at least half a carat, as the heart outline is hard to see on smaller stones. A ratio close to 1.00 keeps the shape balanced. Hearts can hold colour in their lobes, so G to H is a good choice.
