18ct white gold oval cut bridal ring set engagement rings, handmade to order by our family workshop in the Cotswolds and set with a diamond you choose yourself. An oval diamond has the sparkle of a round but looks larger for its weight, and its long shape flatters the finger. A bridal set pairs your engagement ring with wedding bands made to fit around it, so the rings sit flush together.
The oval cut diamond
The oval is a stretched round brilliant, so it has much the same sparkle. Its long shape spreads the weight across a bigger surface, so an oval looks larger than a round of the same carat weight and makes the finger look longer and slimmer. The bands are shaped around the oval centre stone so they sit flush against it.
Why a bridal set?
A bridal set is an engagement ring and wedding band made as a matching pair, so there are no gaps and no rubbing between them. Most of our sets use a jacket: two diamond-set bands that wrap around the engagement ring and frame the centre stone. Wear the engagement ring on its own until the wedding, then add the jacket on the day.
Why 18ct white gold?
18ct white gold is 75% pure gold, alloyed with white metals and finished with rhodium plating for a bright, mirror-white shine. It costs less than platinum and is lighter on the finger. As the plating wears, usually over a year or two, a hint of warmth can show; a quick re-plate brings it back. Want to spend less again? See our 9ct white gold engagement rings.
Choosing your oval diamond
Most people prefer a length-to-width ratio of 1.35 to 1.50. Many ovals show a darker "bow tie" across the middle; a little is normal, so it is worth looking closely at the stone's photos before you choose. A G to H colour and SI1 clarity suit most budgets.
Choose your own diamond
Every ring is set with a centre diamond you choose yourself, natural or lab-grown, from our live stock. Each stone has its grading report, and the ring page shows the finished price before you buy.
Handmade by a family jeweller

Frequently Asked Questions
A darker band across the middle of the stone, caused by the way light passes through an elongated shape. Almost every oval has one to some degree. Check the diamond's photos: a faint bow tie is fine, a strong dark one is best avoided.
Yes. The bands are made to fit the engagement ring, so you can add them nearer the wedding. Already have a ring? See wedding ring jackets.
Usually every year or two, depending on how hard the ring is worn. Re-plating with rhodium takes a short visit to a jeweller and brings back the bright white finish.
Yes. Every ring can be set with a natural or lab-grown diamond from our live stock. Both are real diamonds; lab-grown stones cost less for the same size and grade.
